River surfing in the heart of munich (Surfen in München )

by Monovisions Photography Awards , London UK 2017
The idea for this serie was born along a street walk in my hometown munich .Near the art museum “ Haus der Kunst “ on the southside of the park “ Englischer Garten “ you can find a surf hotspot some hundred km distance from the next ocean. Yes . There is a permanent wave located in a side arm of the river Isar named “ Eisbach “ which is rideable by surfers in a nearly perfect way . On this Placed the first river surfing spot worldwide was born in 1972. The surfers can use the wave for free and they use it the whole year trough , at day and night. You can observe all actions of the wave riders very close from the bridge named “ Prinzregentenbrücke “ or from the river Eisbach bank`s. Dynamic , athletic , aestetic …………….you can see all mutlifarious of the surf sport and of course it`s a very tranquil Place for visitors too. A little bit inspired by the former magnum photographer Ernst Haas (as his spain time) i took most of the pic´s by a slower shutter speed. In this Way the characteristic of the „wave“ like power, shape, surface or the harmonic is vissibled whitin an impressionistic touch.
